Loft Bed Upgrades/Changes
We're always reinventing our products for the better. Please be
mindful of these changes as you browse our website:
Effective 12/04/06 (wood):
We've changed our material from Southern Yellow Pine to Douglas Fir (DF). Please see the
photos below. Although they have very similar qualities structurally,
in our opinion, DF is a more
attractive and desirable wood, especially for furniture.
It also costs more, but we've managed to
stabilize our costs without raising prices for you!

More information on Douglas Fir (click here and/or the following link):

NOTE: Mattress Slats are made of dimensional Hem Fir. While these may feature some knots, it does
match fairly well with DF, and are the least visible parts of the loft bed anyway.

Effective 5/26/10 (design upgrade):

We've done it! We made a super-sturdy loft bed EVEN sturdier!

Please see the photos and drawing below (click on any to enlarge).

TOP LEFT PHOTO: We've incorporated two ADDITIONAL front supports, which help length-wise
sturdiness, particularly along the front of the loft bed.

TOP RIGHT PHOTO: We've made the back supports much longer now, which help length-wise
sturdiness, particularly along the back of the loft bed. Note that the lower horizontal rail in the old
design becomes virtually unnecessary and has been eliminated, as these longer supports
MORE
THAN
make up for any sturdiness loss created by eliminating the horizontal rail.

BOTTOM LEFT PHOTO: Each back support is made of two pieces permanently jointed together.
Considering the way our waste works out here, we decided to do this to keep costs low for you,
however, understand that this does
NOT effect how strong these supports are.

BOTTOM RIGHT PHOTO: These are the designs of the ENDS of the loft beds. Actually, these end
design upgrades have been in effect prior to the above upgrades, but we wanted to be clear on what
the most recent designs are for these. This is drawn to scale*.

Note: For "End-Climb" models, the foot of the loft bed (where the ladder is built-in), has not changed.

Note: The photos above show our new
Red Oak Plywood loft bed, but the design changes have been
implemented for all loft bed products.

We've already tested these new models, and all assembly instructions have likewise been revised.

BOTTOM LINE: This is our STURDIEST and BEST loft bed design to date.

* The "Full/Queen" drawing is drawn to scale for a Full, but the Queen is only a few inches wider so it
looks virtually the same.

Effective 10/24/08 (design upgrade):
"Front-Climb" Models now feature optional left or right ladder assembly, as shown in the
top photo below.
This replaces the old "Front-Climb Left" and "Front-Climb Right" Ladder Models,
and the difference is that there are now three extra holes drilled to facilitate for flexible assembly.

Depending on your preference, there will be three unused holes once assembled. These holes will be
either the ones circled in red or blue in the two photos below. ("End-Angled Ladder" Models are
similar in the sense that they also have three unused holes once assembled, but these are at one
end of the loft bed instead for "End-Angled Ladder" Models).
Effective 12/15/08 (lacquer brand and application type change):
We previously used a "Minwax" brand lacquer (brushed version) and the photos of our lacquer finish
show a display model with this product. This is, however, virtually identical to the "Deft" brand we now
use, as they are very similar products (we can't even tell the difference). Although the spray requires
less labor, it does require one more coat and also costs more, so the prices for this have not changed
considering these factors.
